Giveaway Promotion - 3 Brand Collaboration

Summary

I masterminded a giveway of 5-star rated Raised Right dog food on the Dog Food Advisor channel. That month, Dog Food Advisor had 36.5k visits to their Instagram profile (versus 3.2k the month prior) & got 342 Facebook follows versus 260 in the month prior (32% increase). The CEO of Raised Right was so impressed, he approached me for another giveaway a few months later!

Project Background

A key part of growing a social media account is collaborating with related businesses. Done in the right way, it puts your brand in front of a new, warm target audience - when the other brand's followers see your content on the original brand's account. This can increase your own follower count & engagement levels on your account.

So, as part of my mission to grow Dog Food Advisor, I've masterminded many collaborations - including this giveaway of Raised Right dog food.

Action

I spoke with Braeden Ruud, CEO of Raised Right Pets. I pitched the idea of a giveaway of his 5-star rated dog food on the Dog Food Advisor channel. He loved the idea!

I then wrote a detailed proposal, outlining: 

  • Prizes: 5 x 8 bag boxes of Raised Right dog food (worth $490) for 5 US-based winner
  • Platforms: Run across both Instagram & Facebook for maximum reach 
  • How to enter: Enter by telling us ONE thing you love about Raised Right in the comments 
  • Bonus entries: Entrants get +20 entries for IG story share; +5 entries for tagging a FB friend 
  • Captions: Drafted & sent to Raised Right for approval (inc. ts and cs)
  • Imagery: Created in conjunction with designers & sent to Raised Right for approval
  • Collaborators: Raised Right & Dog Food Advisor & WoofWoofTV
  • Timeline: May 2025, live for 2 days

After some back & forth, everything was ready to go, and the giveaway went live on 27 May 2025. While it was live, I actively managed the promotion by sharing it to our stories and replying to comments to encourage engagement.

Results

The giveaway received 46.3k impressions across 34.7k accounts. Since Dog Food Advisor had only 840 followers when the giveaway launched, this was massive! 

It also got 544 entries - and since we asked people to enter by telling us what they love about Raised Right, the CEO, got to read all the wonderful comments from consumers about his dog food! Here's what he said about the results:

Wow! This definitely exceeded my expectations! I can't thank you enough for everything you did to organize this! I'm very grateful for our partnership - please don't hesitate if you have any other ideas on how we can collaborate together!

In fact, he was so impressed, he asked if we could run another giveaway together just a few months later. I said 'yes!' of course. 

To top it all off, the Dog Food Advisor Instagram profile got 36.5k visits that month versus 3.2k the month prior (that's an 11-fold increase). Meanwhile, the Dog Food Advisor Facebook page got 342 follows that month versus 260 in the previous month without a giveaway (32% increase).

This goes to show how partnering with other related businesses can really boost your presence on social media.
